- **Factors Affecting Environmental Quality:**
- Air Pollution (burning of fossil fuels, factories, car emissions)
- Water Pollution (industrial waste, oil spills, plastic waste)
- Soil Pollution (pesticides, landfill, deforestation)
- Noise Pollution (loud machinery, traffic noise)
- **Effects of Poor Environmental Quality:** Health problems, loss of biodiversity, climate change, etc.
- **Importance of Environmental Quality:** Better health, sustainable ecosystems, improved quality of life.
**3. Interactive Activity (20 minutes)**
- **Group Activity:**
- Divide students into small groups.
- Give each group a piece of chart paper and markers.
- Each group will create a poster depicting ways to improve environmental quality (e.g., recycling, planting trees, using public transport, avoiding plastic, etc.)
- Allow groups to present their posters to the class.
**4. Practical Application (10 minutes)**
- **Discussion:** Ask students to suggest actions they can take in their daily lives to maintain or improve environmental quality.
- **Class Commitment:** As a class, decide on one action everyone will take (e.g., reducing plastic use, planting a tree, organizing a cleanup drive at school).
**5. Conclusion and Assessment (5 minutes)**
- **Recap:** Summarize key points discussed in the lesson.
- **Q&A:** Allow students to ask questions and provide answers to clarify any doubts.
- **Worksheet:** Hand out a short worksheet for students to complete, which includes matching, true or false, and short-answer questions regarding environmental quality.
**6. Homework**
- Ask students to write a short paragraph on how they can help improve the environmental quality of their neighborhood.
**Assessment Criteria:**
- Participation in group activity and poster presentation.
- Completion and accuracy of the worksheet.
- Quality and thoughtfulness of the homework paragraph.
By the end of the lesson, students should have a clear understanding of environmental quality and feel motivated to contribute positively to their environment.
